Responsibilities

Assistant Surveyors of Ships (Maritime) undertake statutory and other related duties under the Merchant Shipping Ordinances pertaining to maritime safety, pollution prevention, security, seafarers' welfare and management including casualty investigations and audits of Hong Kong registered ships and their companies.

Basic qualification requirements
Industry specific capabilities
Professional knowledge and skills in maritime services
Knowledge and skills in enforcing Boiler and Pressure Vessels Ordinance
Knowledge and skills in construction of new vessels and maintenance of the Government Fleet
Related education and training
Degree or above
Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Honours)
Required courses required by the industry
Elementary First Aid and Proficiency in Medical First Aid (Combined)
Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Advanced Fire Fighting (Combined)
Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities
Personal Survival Techniques
Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats
Security Awareness Training for All Seafarers
