
Assistant Correctional Officers II
Assistant Correctional Officers II supervise persons under custody, young persons in a training/ rehabilitation centre, and drug dependants in a drug addiction treatment centre. They are subject to the provisions of the Prisons Ordinance and may be required to wear uniform, work shifts and undertake hospital nursing duties after in-service training and they usually live in departmental quarters. They are responsible for searching prisoners for contraband items; monitoring the conduct of prisoners during work, meals and recreational activities; patrolling prison areas to maintain order and prevent escape; counselling prisoners and participating in implementation of rehabilitation programmes when necessary; conducting head counts; escorting prisoners in transit; maintaining orders and discipline among prisoners using batons, handcuffs and other tools; inspecting and maintaining the conditions of locks, windows, doors and gates regularly; settling disputes between prisoners; screening visitors.
