Responsibilities
3rd Engineers (Maritime) carry out maintenance of specific equipment as assigned. They control, and participate in the operation, maintenance and repair of machinery as directed. They are also required to carry out engine room watchkeeping duties.
Basic qualification requirements
Academic requirements
A higher diploma in mechanical (marine) engineering or above is usually required
Work experience
12 months of sea-time and workshop experience
Industry specific capabilities
Professional knowledge and skills in maritime services
Knowledge and skills in machinery maintenance
Related education and training
Degree or above
Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Honours)
Higher Diploma
Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Marine Engineering)

Elementary First Aid and Proficiency in Medical First Aid (Combined)
Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Advanced Fire Fighting (Combined)
Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities
Personal Survival Techniques
Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats
Security Awareness Training for All Seafarers
