Responsibilities
Fishery Technicians set up and maintain laboratory equipment, and perform tests and experiments and provide technical and scientific support to life science professionals and fishermen. They examine fish specimens to confirm the presence of diseases or other problems and record environmental data from field samples of air or water. They collect, analyse, and properly store fish specimen such as cells, tissues or organs for analysis and prepare reports that summarise research findings.
Basic qualification requirements
Academic requirements
Typically need a higher diploma or an associate degree in applied science, biology, chemistry, animal science, laboratory technicians or a related field
Work experience
3 years of work experience in biological laboratories or related occupation
